My first grade class is full of excitement, rigor, laughter, diversity and learning! My class is made up of multi-cultural students that truly appreciate being at school and learning. At Cassady, we are a neighborhood school and a science alternative school. Many of the students live within walking distance, which allows the parents to walk them to school each day and check in with me in the classroom. This allows for strong ties to the community and the parents feel like a part of their child's learning. Despite the challenges of teaching in a low-income/high poverty school, I provide my students with enjoyable, creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students enjoy being able to move around the classroom and experience learning in many different styles. They love to read and to be read to! I inspire our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence in a positive, enjoyable way!
