DIY STEM projects help students build conceptual understanding as well develop problem-solving strategies. I would also like to create a "gaming center" in my classroom. Gaming is an important part of learning. We will be coding and using math games to build understanding. My school is one-to-one, which means every students in grades 3-8 receive a personal laptop but we do not provide earbuds. These materials will help me create an interactive learning environment in my Math Intervention class. Students in my class lack a conceptual understanding of crucial math concepts. Helping students apply math concepts using models and materials to solve problems enables them to build a more abstract understanding and build problem-solving skills. Flexible seating allows me to modify the learning environment easily. Changing the function of the classroom to create a more interactive learning environment is important part of differentiation. We are also a STEM school. It is important to include cross-curricula hands-on projects for students to apply their problem-solving skills. Integrating technology is important as well as hands-on learning.
