My students have created projects that raise awareness of the refugee crisis, recorded community members stories podcast style, and gotten lost in the world of books. My students like to extend learning beyond the walls of my classroom. The resources I request helps make this a possible. I use positive incentives and friendly competitions to get students excited to try new skills. A fear of failure can be stifling. In my classroom, my students are encouraged to embrace failure as part of the learning process. Students know that I will make our learning as relevant to real world experiences as possible. Notably, we will take a class unit and build a mock trial, awareness campaign, or student-published book.
