Cypresswood Elementary is seeking to enlarge our library catalog of books. Our proposed "Read for the STARS" program encompasses the objective of helping all of our at-risk students increase their reading skills to read at grade level, using the same classroom books and materials as their peers. The objective is, that, by the end of the year, our students will have at least doubled their reading speed and that this increased readership will have improved their reading skills by one to two grade levels. Our "Read for the STARS" program is based on the latest research for effective reading instruction. This Program will also provide an increased supply of books for the library and for our incoming fifth grade students for the academic year 2018-2019. Funding in the amount of $5,000 is requested in order to add three thousand titles to our school's library that will support our curricula.
