Our students will be learning about local rocks and minerals, as well as natural geological land formations. This trip will give our students an experience most of them have never had before. Even though most students have seen the volcanoes in the distance, most of them have never experienced a volcano close up. Students will go on an informative nature hike on the Trail of Two Forests where they will see the aftermath of Mt. St. Helens' eruption and a close up view of the volcano itself, with its blown off top! Students will then get to go down under the ground to experience Ape Caves, formed by volcanic activity from Mt. St. Helens. This event will be led by a ranger who will explain to them how this anomaly was formed.
