These supplies will save students time, energy (that's could be focused on learning), and help students learn to exist in a formal space like school. Students currently have to use Google translate on limited computers to translate words. Computers are scarce and often faulty. Having picture dictionaries gives students 2 points of access. The see the word in their language and they see a picture that further aids in their understanding. The photos are most important for the students who do not read in their language. The books on emotions provide an entry point into learning the language of emotions. They will be read-aloud to students throughout the year in an effort to increase their emotional vocabulary. From the books, we will brainstorm ways to optimize class time by identifying emotions and actions that help us learn, identify triggers, and ways to manage emotions. The lamination pouches will ensure that students are able to reuse the materials. The OPD pages are a valuable resource and students will keep them on their desks so that when they are working they can reference them.
