Our pre-K curriculum introduces research. My students are currently researching animals and habitats. So far, their research has included reading a variety of informational texts and websites, watching videos, analyzing photos, and asking questions. My students are empowered through research. They are learning that their questions and wonderings are worthwhile and they're brilliant learners capable of finding and understanding the information they need. Our city provides an amazing resource in the Franklin Park Zoo. A trip to the zoo is an opportunity for my little researchers to deepen their study of animals and habitats. My students will learn how the zoo staff care for animals and recreate important aspects of animals' natural habitats.
