In Illinois, 49% of our energy comes from coal, and 49% comes from nuclear energy. The last part is divided up among wind, solar, and other renewable energies. Students are interested in learning more about these clean forms of energy. They want to know how these forms of energy work, why and how they are used, why are they not being used more frequently, etc. We have large wind farms just outside of our city. We have a special activity that we try to do every year that requires manipulating several different types of energy in an effort to come to a decision about what would be best. Help the future engineers, scientists, and citizens in our classroom discover the wonders of alternative forms of energy!
