Many of my students have impaired motor skills and these iPads would allow them to participate fully in the world of technology. Touch screens don’t require as much fine motor coordination and they offer kid friendly apps and icons. My students with fine motor issues can develop a mastery of knowledge using touch screens and still feel like they are keeping up with the other students. These kindergartners can use the iPad to access math and reading activities that will build their academic competence with the touch of a finger. Building a solid foundation for my students is crucial to their academic survival and technology plays a vital part in revealing the endless possibilities. In addition to connecting to the world of technology with the iPad to improve their dexterity, students can also create activities using coding programs. Coding lays the groundwork for creating a website or video games. Research shows that the earlier you get kids familiar with STEM topics, the more likely they are to persevere and have STEM careers. I want my students to experience the spark of STEM investigation before it is too late. The youth are natural scientists who are capable of tackling various subjects. Remember their innate curiosity compels them to ask questions and they deserve to explore all opportunities to infinity and beyond.
