Recently, I have had the positive experience of receiving donated Chromebooks to my class of students. These devices have been a wonderful asset to my class, but as a forward thinker, I am always looking for ways to improve engagement and max out my time. With this being said I want to improve the Chromebooks' performance and maximize the learning time by adding on the Google Educational License. The addition of Google Educational Licenses will improve the learning experience in many ways. Probably the most important improvement will be the speed up of internet speed. Currently, The Chromebooks are using an open wifi link that is bogged down by the public, since we are a "bring your own device school". The Google Educational License will allow the Chromebooks to use the secure internet access, which will shave minutes off load time. For my students, which are grades below their peers, this small difference adds up to a huge amount of gained engagement time. The more time my students spend on their reading programs, the shorter the gap becomes. By adding on the Google Educational License my students will receive a boost towards a successful 7th grade year.
