The majority of my students struggle with reading. Many are reading below the 7th grade level. Having books that they want to read in my library excites and motivates them. The more they read, the better readers they will become and the closer to reading on grade level they will get. This project's funds will be mostly used to purchase high-interest books for my library, including graphic novels and dystopian novels. I will use a small portion to buy bins to organize the books with so that students can more easily find the genre or author they are looking for. Right now, my library has some high-interest books, but a lot of the books in my library are not being read by students. I pieced together my library over the summer with my old books from middle school/high school, donations I have gotten from friends and family, and the books that were left in my room by the former teacher. I have a lot of very old books and books that students just aren't interested in. As a 7th grade teacher, I do not get funding for my classroom and I personally cannot afford to stock my classroom library with the kinds of books my students want quickly.
