My students are super active, and flexible seating would support them! I love having my students move around the classroom throughout the day. When they are sitting at their school provided desks, most students are not comfortable. We have a mix of different sized desks and chairs that don't fit all of my students. If I were able to provide flexible seating, where the students have a choice of where they sit, they will feel like they have some ownership in the classroom. This is especially important because school is a safe place for all of my students. If they feel like they can take ownership of how and where they learn, they feel like they are responsible for their own learning. These kids come from a tough neighborhood, and coming to school and being comfortable is something they deserve. With this funded project, students will be able to choose from a variety of desks, chairs, and movable desks to work at.
