Imagine your a fifth grade student walking into a classroom after learning about adaptations from a boring textbook. Before you lays a dissection lab live in person. You are so excited to get a hands-on view of something you have only read about in books. Our squid dissection lab will let students get a real life view of all the adaptations they have learned about so far. This lab will lock in their knowledge and skills through a hands-on experience rather than just reading out of a book. I have asked for squids for my fifth graders to look at adaptations and frogs for 6th graders to start diving into anatomy. I have also included a class set of google cardboard headsets to take virtual class field trips. Super Science magazines are also on my list to grab the student's attention so they can read up on current science topics. I have also included various STEM kits so they can get the hands-on learning experience they so desperately need. Research tell us that students learn better through hands-on STEM activities. These materials will ensure that students will have a concrete way to master their target skills.
