This year we are focusing on reading high interest books that will foster my students' love of reading , improve their critical thinking skills and help them make real world connections. My students are at various reading levels and they avoid reading chapter books because they perceive them as hard. I am confident that with supportive reading strategies I can make these books more accessible to them and boost their reading confidence. The chapter books chosen here tackle issues familiar to the students. The opportunity to read these novels in a group and discuss them provides an avenue for meaningful peer discussion to provoke the thought process.
