My students range in age from 4 years old to 14 years old. They receive Speech and Language therapy for a variety of reasons ranging from articulation delays to receptive and expressive language delays, and delays associated with autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc. Some of my students are in general education classrooms, some are in special education classrooms, and some are in a special program housed at School #29 called GEM (Growth and Eduction for students with Multiple disabilities). All of my wonderful students have engaging and joyful personalities. The smallest of things make them happy. Dong Zumba in the gym is called a "dance party!!!" Non-verbal students are joyful about socializing with everyone they encounter using their AAC (augmentative and alternative communication)! Effective communication skills are essential and will increase their opportunities and success in life!
