These Acer Chromebooks will be used to create a station within the classroom for students to research the demands they will need to meet in their adult lives. Many of my students are very eager to begin working having a starry eyed idea that they will have money in their pockets, purchasing a car, styling new clothes, helping out their family, and the list continues. This project is not meant to distract them from their dreams, but to see the need of financially planning ahead in order to achieve them. My students value hard work, and these resources will help them organize their finances as they prepare for college and their careers. The goal is for these materials to be used as a tool for students to plan for the future rather than just living in the moment. The chromebooks will drive assignments relating to money budgeting as my students research the cost of no longer living at home, researching bills they will have and the projected cost of those bills, and food expenses. Most importantly, these chrome books will also help motivate them for college as they will prepare for their financial futures by applying for scholarships, fafsa, researching and comparing tuition at various colleges, and reading informational articles online about financial freedom, the importance of being aware of loan interest, and how to budget a savings along with everything else.
