Our students need white boards to successfully participate in the new Phonics Units of Study published by Columbia Teachers' College. In the program, students participate in cooperative groups to study letters and words. The simplest way for students to practice these skills is by using white boards. Students practice building words by writing them on the white boards. Our students need dry erase boards to use during phonics lessons to keep them actively involved and to show their understanding of the skills being taught. The phonics principles studied are transferable skills that can be immediately applied to their reading and writing work.
