A spot mat would give students a specific place to sit during small group time. This will improve classroom management issues during small group. Right now the floor does not have an indicator for the students to sit. With this mat, I could assign students to sit in number order or change it up and have them sit by the colors of their tables. The chairs would raise students off the ground for center time. This would provide them comfort as they are working in centers. It would assign a designated area for students to sit while they focus on reading to self, work on writing, and word work.
