Popular authors as Gary Paulsen and Jerry Spinelli are favorites to middle school age boys and girls, which I believe is a great start to replacing my classroom library. Reading is the most important tool a child can possess, and without reading, learning is impossible. I believe that you must hook a child into reading and to do that they first must enjoy what they read. Without a library in a school or classroom limits a child to what he/she can read. Another important component of reading is understanding the vocabulary, so dictionaries are a must! It does little to be able to call words and not comprehend them. Not knowing how to read limits your future success!
