My students will be receiving intensive instruction regarding social skills and self-regulation. Sensory integration allows students to learn to assess their body’s needs and use tools to help them regulate. Stools, bean bags, theraputty, and building tools such as legos and knex can help students to focus their body and mind. Basketballs can provide students with activity to either expend extra energy or wake them up so they are ready to engage academically. All tools were specifically chosen to be of interest to the students and be socially acceptable, so students are willing to engage in activities. These tools will help students to regulate their bodies and therefore be ready to engage in academics!
