I work with a diverse group of learners with varied interests, abilities, and backgrounds. Being from a small, rural community in Maine, many of them come from families who are at or below poverty level, and often struggle with hunger, broken homes, and trauma. Despite these challenges, they come to school excited and ready to learn--they're eager for opportunities to try new things, use new tools, and be successful in their learning. Some love working in groups or in pairs while others prefer working individually. Whatever their preferences, they're all amazing kids who deserve the best education they can get! Every student in this classroom brings something to the table, and it's very rewarding to watch them grow and change, especially when they realize that their strengths allow them to take on leadership roles and help one another to form a stronger classroom community!
