In a school with so many special needs children, it is hard to acquire all the tools to appropriately meet each individuals needs. As a new teacher of the speech improvement, I am quickly learning what motivates students and what tools and teaching methods are most effective. My students love to play games! However, sometimes simple board games are not the most effective way to teach a specific skill. My students will benefit and be motivated by the variety of new language specific games and activities (Lakeshore Learning Materials). These activities will allow my students to work and play at the same time! Most of my students are English Language Learners, therefore, the games and activities (ELL language library) targeted specifically for students learning English as a second language will be a great resource. Additionally, I have recently gained some Pre-K students to my caseload. Materials like alphabet bins and dot art will be excellent tools for teaching early phonemic awareness and supporting language development. My students will be so appreciative of any donations as they are the first to notice when I bring in something as simple as a new highlighter :) Please consider supporting my initiative to build the most effective learning environment for speech and language therapy for everyone!
