We will be exploring desert biomes and the intricate food webs that exist in the natural habitat of bearded dragons. Students will create a diagram before beginning research on how to take care of one as a pet. They will need to make a list of what is safe and what foods might harm it. This exploration will prepare them for the pet's arrival. Not only does it provide a look into science but having a pet can bring out a child's compassion and empathy. They will be entirely responsible for another creature's life. Students will be engaged and eager to learn about the bearded dragon's habits. The supplies listed will allow our bearded dragon to live in the warm environment that is necessary for them. They require various lighting for during the day and night, as well as basking. Bearded dragons also need a place to hide for when they become overheated. Bearded dragons are easy to keep alive so long as their environment is maintained and they have proper nutrition such as vitamins and calcium.
