As a class, we are learning about our learning styles and how we learn best. One aspect of our learning style is seating. Some students are able to focus more in their academics when they are able to move their bodies a bit at their desks. Each student takes an inventory on what is best for them. While they know what would be best for them, we do not have the resources for them. With the minimal flexible seating I do have, certain students have been given the balls to use as an option. I have personally seen their focus be more on academics than other stimulants around them. I want to be able to provide seating options for my students so they can be focused on the task at hand. Every student learns differently and their needs need to be individualized. Some students need to sit at a desk with a regular chair while others need to use balls, stools, or even stand. I have students that perfer to stand, but their desks are so low they are always crouching over, which is not good for their backs. Bed risers will give my students the ability to stand tall at their desks. The tall ball stools will allow my students to sit up high and let their feet hang while swaying back in forth. This also helps students to focus as well. The wobble seat cushions are versatile and can be used for sitting and standing. They allow the students to wiggle their body, while working on class work at a designated spot. With your help, my students will be able to learn in an environment that is best suited for their individual needs.
