Scholastic Classroom Magazine will be a valuable resource for my language arts and social studies classroom. The curriculum-connected nonfiction news articles in every magazine will support the development of key language arts skills. The follow up reading comprehension questions will encourage my students to think critically about the articles. The magazine also features small-group activities and read-aloud plays which foster collaboration and assist my students in developing oral communication skills. The magazine provides numerous opportunities for my students to evaluate content presented in diverse media formats. My students will encounter opinion pieces, debates, and polls to analyze arguments and determine their validity. The high-interest news articles will help my students understand how real-life situations impact their present day lives as well as their futures.
