Sensory bins are proven to provide an educational experience for small children. They are bins full of different textures with learning items that they have to find. Sensory bins provide a hands on learning experience for Kindergarten students. An example of a sensory bin would be a bin full of an item, such as colored sand. The teacher would then put in an educational item such as blue gems with alphabet letters attached. The students would dig through the sand, find a letter, and record it on a sheet. When my own child was in Kindergarten, this was his favorite activity to participate in! All of the items in my cart would be put into the bins. There would be 2 bins per month. So, I would put (for example) the colored rice in a bin and then attach numbers to the plastic footballs. The students would then pull a plastic football out of the bin and record the number they pulled on a separate sheet.
