Since they can't hear, Deaf children have to experience the world through sight and touch. I want to use the snap circuits kit to build circuits so the students experience how electricity works and travels. The bridge building kit is going to be used to build structures that can carry loads and withstand simulated earthquakes. We have some Legos, but no base plates on which to build our structures. We will be using the play doh as a medium to create molecules by rolling it into balls and connecting them with toothpicks. Finally, our color printer is out of toner, and we are unable to print our research results and designs without it. All of these items will help create hands-on STEM activities that will expand their knowledge and skills. Given the right tools, the students in my classroom have the potential to grow and learn and become anything they want to be. I want them to realize their abilities and strengths and go far in life.
