Flexible seating will let the students move throughout the room with some guidance. This type of seating will be very different than the standard and traditional seating inside of a classroom. We need Wobble Chairs, balance cushions and balance ball chairs to use as flexible seating and journal story tablets for writing. Students need to be able to have the freedom to learn in an environment best suited for them. I am trying to provide my students with a unique opportunity to learn in comfort. There are three different types of seating that I have requested. The balance ball chairs are similar to a normal chair in that they do have a back, four legs, and a seat. However, that seat is a ball, and this will allow students to get their wiggles out and work through their movement in order to stay focused. The balance cushions are going to be perfect for a floor height table. I will have the leg inserts removed and the table will be perfect for students to use with these cushions instead of the floor. The Wobble Chairs are going to be ideal for the students who chose to stand but need a little boost. In kindergarten, we are not always very tall, and these Wobble seats are just the right height so that their feet will touch the floors but with limited weight applied. The paper will greatly help my kinder friends with correct letter formation! They will have an entire book each to practice writing words and forming sentences! I am trying to allow each student to learn in their own way. Just as I change my teaching styles, I am trying to change the seating opportunities in the classroom. I am hoping to see my students benefit!
