My students need atom models to use hands on experience to explore atomic structure including protons, neutrons in the nucleus, and electrons in the electron cloud. They need molecular models to use hands on experience to see how atoms combine to create molecules. They will also be able to count atoms in chemical formulas using subscripts and coefficients, and explore how the law of conservation of mass shows that matter is not created or destroyed it just rearranges. They need aprons to do labs with chemicals to explore evidence that chemical reactions have occurred and to practice proper lab safety procedures.
