My students face this every day. My students come from all over the world to attend a regular public high school. My Asian students have electronic translators that are quick and easy to use. My Hispanic students have to use books that are heavy and cumbersome. Most of my Spanish students only look up one or two words because it is so difficult. When students borrow electronic Spanish English translators, they look up many words, complete their test faster and get better grades. My students work very hard to keep up with high school class work while learning English. Many of them also work after school because they need to help support their families.
