I currently read the books Hatchet and Brian's Winter, by Gary Paulsen, with my sixth-grade students. My students enjoy reading these books and often ask if I will buy the next book so that they can read it. I love hearing this enthusiasm from my students. It shows me that my students want to read, and that is the goal! "The River" is book three in a series of Gary Paulsen books, and I would love to be able to purchase this book as a classroom set. We live in the U.P. of Michigan and the books take place in the Canadian wilderness. The content in the books makes them easy for my students to relate to.
