With these books, my students will have a variety of genres to select a reading book on their level to enjoy. Students read independently to develop a life-long relationship with reading. I've noticed how, when students are given the power of choice, they have "owned" their book and expressed profound take-aways from each experience. I hope with these additional options, it will help reach all interest levels in my classroom and help them continue to grow as strong readers. This is the best way to increase reading ability and create excitement for reading. As they progress, students will be able to compare characters across genres and be prepared to move on to their next level as readers.
