My students struggle with communication. They are non-verbal, but all so bright. It makes them very frustrated when they are not able to communicate their needs, this can be as simple as "I need potty." I currently use PECS (picture exchange) in my classroom. This does not give them an "actual voice." However, there are many applications that can be downloaded onto an IPad that would give them an audible voice. I work at a school where parents are extremely supportive and ready to learn how to help their children; however, we do not have the financial means to provide these devices. I dedicate a percentage of my income to providing snacks and rewards for positive behaviors, which works! At the end of the day, there is not much left over. My hope is to show everyone that their children can communicate, but I cannot do this without you! Thank you for your support!
