I am lucky enough to teach a wonderful group of second graders at the #1 School in America! It's true! While our building is older than many of our teachers, it is full of learning, character, and love. We focus on CHAMP behaviors, which encourage students and teachers to be Caring, Helpful, Achieving, Motivated, Problem-Solvers. As their teacher, my goal is to show my students how joyful ALL learning can be--whether it is states of matter, alliteration, reading fluently, the branches of government, or geometry. I encourage this joy through games, art and drawing, hands-on activities, experiments, and inspiring read-alouds. Our school is in a small town in North Carolina. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and families. We are a Title 1 school, meaning the majority of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches.
