My students are 100 percent African-American from high poverty living conditions throughout Baltimore city. They are students who are on a college bound track to students with special needs all included in one class. We talked about African-American music in United States history and love the fact I play guitar for our lessons on occasion. Several have expressed an interest in learning to play guitar and music of their cultural history. They do not have the means to purchase guitars and the unit I chose has everything we need in the package to get them started. We are a charter school in Baltimore City serving grades 6-11.
