As 4th graders, my students are very interested in coding and online AutoCAD design. They are thinkers and problem-solvers. Having a 3D printer to use in the classroom would allow students to apply what they are learning in math, science, and beyond to create tangible products. Through the design process inherent in 3D printing, students can hone their problem-solving skills. They will have the opportunity to reflect on projects to determine what went right and what could be improved. A 3D printer in the classroom can facilitate project-based learning as we seek to find new answers to old questions. In addition, students will be improving their group work skills as well as their writing skills.
