For the students in my classroom, learning to play is as important as any other skill they will learn. Play helps children develop social skills, communication skills, gross and fine motor skills, and problem solving skills. My students need a wide variety of toys that range from simple cause and effect toys, to toys for exploring and toys that encourage imagination. My classroom currently has a limited supply of quality toys for both indoor and outdoor use. Many are old and missing parts and pieces. With your generous donation we will be able to get a variety of toys that will cover the vast needs and interests of my students. We will be able to incorporate play skills into our Centers Time and Outdoor Time. During this "fun" time students can also work on academic skills such as counting, color and shape identification, vocabulary, concepts such as "more or less", cause and effect as well as develop leisure skills that they can use at home and for the rest of their lives. Great toys can also be used to help motivate students to earn time with those toys. This can encourage positive behaviors thus allowing more time for learning throughout the day.
