Due to their exceptionalities, my students struggle with learning deficits, executive functioning skills, and fine motor functions. Some of my students struggle with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, auditory processing disorder (APD), and dysgraphia. Dyslexia and APD affect students' reading comprehension, spelling, and overall learning. With a classroom iPad, my students could access apps and websites such as Learning Ally and MyOn, where they can listen to audio books to strengthen their auditory skills and listening comprehension. Dysgraphia affects students fine motor skills which are necessary for writing, and manipulating objects in class. Using our classroom iPad, students who struggle with dysgraphia can also access apps such as SnapType (where they can snap a picture of a worksheet or document and complete their assignment by typing on the iPad instead of writing) and Grammar Dragon (where students can complete exercises to strengthen their fine motor skills.) In our classroom, we strive to "see the 'able' and not the label" daily, and a classroom iPad would enable my struggling learners to strive to be the best version of themselves they are ABLE to be.
