I will use the magazines as a resource in my reading class as an interesting way for students to read expository text. Students will use the pictures in the magazine as a reference to create understanding for the text. The majority of the text that second graders read is narrative-basically fictional stories. Time for Kids is a magazine that is about animals, states, crops, social issues, etc. Students will have to read fact based text and understand and analyze what they are reading. I will use the magazine in science and social studies to increase students' knowledge of the world around them.
