Students will have greater control and choice in their learning. There will a variety of high, medium and low seating, seating cushions, yoga mats, balance ball chairs, bounce bands, and stand-up tables. Students will choose where they sit daily, but wherever they choose to sit, it will have to help them be their best learning self. Students will move the furniture based on their needs; even laying on the floor is acceptable, and sitting by friends is allowed. As the room becomes “ours” instead of “mine,” this will give my students a sense of ownership and will enable them to become more invested in their own education. I feel that being comfortable somehow allows the student to stay vested in their learning goals, and their behavior improves as a result. When this happens students are willing to work with others, share ideas and move around the room.
