Math Corners will allow my students to have student control during their learning. Often times they look to me because they are sitting at desks and I am at the board so they automatically think I have all of the control and all of the answers. Math corners will allow students to feel as though they are in control during collaborative learning. Alternative seating choices like rugs, pillows, cushions and bean bag chairs will also give those students that need to sit away from the group an opportunity to focus on the task at hand. Math Corners will also allow the room to become our room instead of the student's referring to it as my room. It will also give students autonomy in their learning environment.
