Science is a world of wonder, but is often looked at by students as difficult to understand. We have gone from books to ebooks, and lectures to videos, but we have not truly engaged our students. With the Oculus Go virtual reality headset, we will be able to access a science curriculum that will allow students to experience science in way that will increase understanding. They will have interactive engagement in a virtual world that will allow them to, go inside a human cell, study the earth crust and atmosphere by actually be there in it, or even taking a shuttle to Mars and researching information there. They will have access to hundreds of lab experiments without having to purchase countless supplies such as electron microscopes and PCR machines. They can perform cancer research and do labs that would have been to dangerous, like dealing with viruses and bacteria, for safety reasons. This headset is a doorway to more engagement and with that increased knowledge and understanding. Our world is ever changing and these students are our next generation of great scientist. The technology is here, it is our responsibility as teachers to adopt these new technologies inside the classroom. I aim to inspire a whole new generation young scientist to become more innovative and change our world.
