I am asking for materials for our new sensory table. This is our first year to have a sensory table in the classroom! There are many benefits to sensory play and I’m excited to implement them into our classroom. Research suggests that as children play in sensory tables, they are developing their sense of touch which leads to strengthening their fine-motor muscles. One person said “Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.” These are all things I want to support and foster in my classroom! It provides a fun way of learning for these little guys too!
