In a world where bullying is at the forefront of most social issues and is one of the most common struggles for children, I feel it’s my job to get ahead of it. I feel that we should shatter the stigma that surrounds this and teach the next generation to love one another and to always “choose kind.” I feel that by reading about Auggie’s journey with my students at this critical time in their life, they will be able to check out their lives for a little while and walk in Auggie’s shoes. Having two students (that I know of) as confirmed victims of bullying, I want to have open dialogue with my students about this topic so they learn to overcome their past and embrace what is to come. If feel Auggie’s story, Wonder, could do just that.
