Robotics encourages and inspires students to create something new. Developing collaboration and problem solving skills are some of the real world attributes we focus on during robotics. These kits give us the materials needed to complete tasks and test our skills. As students work together to design a robot using the materials provided, they must listen and compromise with their peers in order to create a working machine that can accomplish various tasks. Students must stretch their minds to imagine what might work and then test their ideas. In order to test the possibilities, we need parts. In the past we have borrowed kits from other schools in the past and worked with what we had available. The problem with this is we are not guaranteed all the pieces are present. This way we can be sure our students have the materials needed to succeed.
