We have access to many of our novels, but many students have not traveled outside of the USA or the general area. Our first novel, A Long Walk To Water, takes place in Africa and many of our students may never visit or see it. I would like to use the virtual reality kits to help display and virtual field trip so students will have the capabilities to relate the novel to the actual location. Most novels in seventh grade will be able to use this virtual tool to visit locations. The novels for the grade level all take place in other time periods or locations. These will help ESL, special needs, and regular education students connect the novels to the world. Making these 21st century connections.
