Although the ukulele is often thought of as a Hawaiian music instrument, its origins are from Portugal. I would like to bring this fun, child-friendly instrument into my classroom by purchasing 30 ukuleles. They are affordable, versatile, and will be a valuable addition to our classroom's collection of instruments. The ukulele is a wonderful "gateway" instrument inspiring interest in and teaching basic techniques for other string instruments like guitar, violin and cello. My students will learn to tune and play on the soprano ukulele's four strings: G-C-E-A. Students will use their ukuleles to build practical knowledge of chords, create new song compositions, and to begin applying chord progressions to their existing creative projects. Thank you so much for considering a donation, every instrument counts. Our classroom is a better place to learn because of your generosity.
