My students need sensory experiences. The items I have listed will give them opportunities for sensory play. Sensory play supports physical, language and cognitive development. Research shows that sensory inputs builds nerve connections in the brains pathways. Sensory play offers experiences for all children, including those with special needs. It promotes social interaction, fine motor skills, language development, gross motor skills and self-control skills, which all children need. The materials, such as the stepping stones and sensory ball set will be used in a specially designed sensory based classroom, where students will be engaged in developmentally appropriate activities, based on their specific sensory needs. The flex-space wobble cushions will be used during group meetings, for students who need a flexible seating to engage in the story or learning activity.
