As the teacher of two 5th grade classes - one general education and one special education - I strive to teach my students that as the oldest kids at the school, they are leaders within the community. They have a great deal of responsibility not only within the four walls of my classroom in regard to their own learning and to each other, but across the building as all younger students look up to them. I strive to make my classroom a safe place in which learners of all types are encouraged and feel at ease in pushing their comfort zone. With an exceptionally diverse group of students a sense of community is my priority as without that, limited learning will occur.

About my class
