The materials I would like would definitely make a difference in how I work with my students. The literacy sets I requested have been on my list for a long time. I love reading with my students and hand-on manipulatives bring the stories to life. The children are able to actually see the characters and hold them. This facilitates discussions about the W questions-who, what, when, where, and why. It also helps them understand the setting, problem, and solution in the story. I also chose the pegboards which can be used for sorting, counting, and number identification. It also helps with fine motor skills. I am a firm believer in challenging my students on a daily basis. One of my main goals is to have them become independent thinkers who are able to utilize higher level thinking strategies to solve problems and answer questions. I am so excited about these materials. I have been wanting them for a long time. I know they will benefit my students in numerous ways.
